The #girlsCan project was initiated in 2021 in Styria and has entered its second round in cooperation with the AusbildungsFit project (mafalda association, Graz) and the Seiersberg Youth Center as well as the school social work of the MS Premstätten (SOFA - Soziale Dienste GmbH, Seiersberg). In Graz and Seiersberg, three content-related and three artistic-practical workshops for girls and young women were implemented. The focus was on working with the participants on the topic of gender-specific violence in a low-threshold manner and using various tools of political education work to open up the space to deal with one's own limits, to jointly develop strategies for action and, in a final step, to visibly carry these into public space in a collectively designed graffiti. Based on the project results, a zine was designed and printed, which contains target group specific information, resources and tools from the workshops as well as the graffiti for the purpose of project documentation and dissemination. The zine was presented during the 16 days against violence against women, together with representatives of the cooperation partners. As part of the press work, reports were broadcasted on the free radio Soundportal and in the regional media WOCHE Graz and WOCHE Graz Umgebung.
The zine produced as part of the project can be downloaded here.
