This study follows on from the first IKF evaluation of StoP, which focused on the pilot project in Vienna's 5th district/Margareten. Following a community-oriented concept originating in Hamburg, StoP aims to empower residents of a district or neighborhood to recognize (partner) violence and strengthen their civil courage so that they can get involved in a supportive manner. Knowledge transfer, awareness-raising and empowerment are the topic of the meetings that take place every 14 days and are open to interested parties - the so-called women's and men's tables (and now also mixed tables). The first evaluation focused on the women's and men's tables in the 5th district, their composition, activities, problems and successes from 2019 to 2021. Similar to Germany, the women's table was able to establish itself quickly, but the men's table had very few participants and therefore had difficulties committing to an agenda over a longer period of time.

This second study, which was again commissioned by the AÖF, which was responsible for the project, therefore looks exclusively at the three Viennese men's tables that were established in Simmering and Penzing (11th and 14th districts of Vienna) after Margareten. Based on interviews and participant observations, changes in the concept and activities of the men's tables were analyzed in the period from April 2023 to September 2024. In the meantime, a new focus can be identified, namely in terms of content on feminist men's work with topics related to violence and masculinity as well as organizationally on Vienna- and Austria-wide public relations and networking instead of district-internal work. The planning and implementation of campaigns such as the men's run or the “Männ[sch]lichkeit. Take responsibility – break with role models” campaign continue to play an important role.
